John's poultry page

I am a small-scale poultry keeper in Essex. I have kept chickens, bantams and ducks for over 30 years now and always have nice, mainly crossbred hens and cockerels of all ages for sale to good homes.

I also keep the larger Thai Siamese Fighting-Fowl-Type O-Shamo breed and the smaller Ko-Shamo. O-Shamo are a large breed introduced to the UK about 20 years ago and originally fighting stock from the East with cock birds often reaching 30 inches or more and 12lb-plus with the hens slightly smaller at about 9lb. The equally feisty Ko’s are the bantam type version.
